Meet the board
The Elgin Farmers’ Market is led by a volunteer board of seven local residents — 40% of whom are also vendors — working together to keep the market at least 51% producer-focused, promote it throughout the community, support local musicians, maintain the SNAP food access program, host events celebrating seasonal produce, and collaborate closely with vendors to continually strengthen the market for everyone.

Krissy Voutas
President
Krissy has been involved with Elgin Farmers’ Market since 2019 and serves as Board President. As well as being the public face of the market, she hopes to support successful legacy and transition policies and procedures so the EFM will continue to grow when new Board members feel called to serve.
With a background in culinary arts, HR/accounting, operations management, nutrition and over 15-years worth of food systems (with 10 of them being dedicated to regenerative farming), Krissy feels called to utilize her skills and serve the Elgin community. She believes in the dignity and worth of ALL humans and her best hope is to continuously foster that welcoming atmosphere at the Elgin Farmers’ Market for any and all who may visit.

Genice Harris
Genice Harris, a registered nurse, holistic wellness advocate, educator, and Intergenerational Gardening Soul to Soul Program Manager for the Alliance for African American Health in Central Texas, is passionate about health, wellness, building and serving community.
Food insecurity directly impact health outcomes of communities. According to health.gov, in 2020, Black, non-Hispanic households were over 2 times more likely to be food insecure than the national average. Genice asserts, “while health disparities amongst the black community are great, food accessibility is an essential steppingstone towards community resiliency, but food sovereignty remains the ultimate objective”.
