About us

Elgin Farmers’ Market is a year-round, producer-focused market held every Thursday from 4–7pm at Veterans’ Memorial Park in downtown Elgin, TX.

Local food, friendly faces

Located in Veterans’ Memorial Park in downtown Elgin, we proudly serve shoppers from across Bastrop County and East Austin.

Every vendor grows, raises, or makes what they sell, from seasonal produce and pasture-raised meats to baked goods, honey, soaps, and handcrafted products, creating a vibrant space filled with local food and friendly faces. With live local music each week and seasonal events, the market is more than a place to shop, it’s a weekly gathering for the community.

Run by a volunteer board of local residents, the market is committed to strengthening Elgin’s local economy, increasing food access through SNAP, and supporting small farmers, ranchers, and makers. By working closely with the city and neighboring Main Street businesses, Thursday evenings have become a lively downtown tradition.

Come for the food, stay for the friendship and be part of a community that believes local matters.

Farmer’s markets don’t just happen, it takes a whole community to build and sustain a thriving market like ours. We’d like to take a moment to thank you all from the bottom of our hearts for your continued support of our local farmers, ranchers, producers and makers.

  • Increasing food access

Nutritious food should be within reach for everyone, yet for many families cost and access make fresh produce feel out of reach. Farmers markets help close that gap by offering affordable prices and programs that support low-income households, while creating a welcoming space where fruits and vegetables aren’t hidden on the sidelines — they’re front and center, accessible, and celebrated.

  • Supporting local business

Locally owned retailers, such as farmers markets, return more than three times as much of their sales to the local economy compared to chain competitors.

You are also supporting the farmer (and their family) who worked to grow the food. Supporting small scale farming protects and diversifies rural livelihoods and farmland.

  • Building community

Studies of farmers market shoppers reveal that 75% came to market to do more than shop, 55% felt the market increased their connection to community, 99% believed the market improves the health of the community, and 53% believed the market improves perceptions of the neighborhood.
